The JIG vs. The Sled

Now that we have established that the jig is amazing, then the question must be asked, “Why has Ray invented something to replace it?

The Eye:
The “eye” of the jig is up against the head of the jig. The body of a jig is called the “head.” (See picture.)  Every jig built, no matter which body shape you buy, will have the eye against the head. The problem is that the line is tied onto the eye and the line, obviously, goes back to your rod. As you pull the jig through various structures the jig head, because of its design, bangs into everything it touches. Even though the old jigs have weed guards, the jig flips on its side and gets caught. Getting snagged costs you jigs, but most importantly snagged jigs catches zero fish. The poor design of the everyday jig costs you many bites – and you never know what you missed. Just one big bass is the difference between a great fishing trip and a wasted day. It could also be the difference between winning a tournament and being a “contributor.”

The Sled’s eye isn’t anywhere near the head of The Sled. We call it “an Extended Eye” and it is super strong heavy gauge stainless steel. It is 3/8” long and comes off the head at a 45º angle. The eye is large and egg-shape. When you tie on your line to The Sled it is away from the head. When The Sled comes to structure, the extended eye guides and keeps the line from ever touching. The Sled slides over the structure and through anything and everything.   (See picture)

The “Extended Eye” is a key to the success of The Sled. It is THE key to your structure fishing success.

The Head:
If The Sled just had an “Extended Eye” it would not be the fish catcher that it is. It is the combination of the “Extended Eye” and The Sled’s head that makes The Sled “The Perfect Lure.”

The head looks like a Stealth Fighter Jet. All sides are flat and they all come to a point where the “Extended Eye” comes out at a 45º angle. All other jig heads are various degrees of “round.” There are even jigs that have heads shaped like footballs. The Stealth Jet was designed to fly through the air and not be detected by radar.  Using the same design, The Sled is designed to slide through, over, under and penetrate any structure or weed in any lake, river or reservoir from Maine to Japan and from Mexico to South Africa.
