The JIG vs. The Sled Now that we have established that the jig is amazing, then the question must be asked, “Why has Ray invented something to replace it? The Eye: The Sled’s eye isn’t anywhere near the head of The Sled. We call it “an Extended Eye” and it is super strong heavy gauge stainless steel. It is 3/8” long and comes off the head at a 45º angle. The eye is large and egg-shape. When you tie on your line to The Sled it is away from the head. When The Sled comes to structure, the extended eye guides and keeps the line from ever touching. The Sled slides over the structure and through anything and everything. (See picture) The “Extended Eye” is a key to the success of The Sled. It is THE key to your structure fishing success.
The Head: The head looks like a Stealth Fighter Jet. All sides are flat and they all come to a point where the “Extended Eye” comes out at a 45º angle. All other jig heads are various degrees of “round.” There are even jigs that have heads shaped like footballs. The Stealth Jet was designed to fly through the air and not be detected by radar. Using the same design, The Sled is designed to slide through, over, under and penetrate any structure or weed in any lake, river or reservoir from Maine to Japan and from Mexico to South Africa.
